So you’ve probably heard that many high-achievers have done about half of their daily tasks before most have had their first coffee.

And for good reason, waking up early is a great way to make the most out of your day.

However, if all it took was waking up a tad earlier, life would be too easy.

In The Miracle Morning, Hal Elrod talks about the six habits that he and other high achievers have used to become their most successful self.

The Miracle Morning has been ‘magical’ by Robert Kiyosaki and has changed millions of lives around the world.

Lesson One: Rearview Mirror Syndrom is holding people back

Okay, this is about to get really deep really quick.

Put your hand up if you’ve let limitations of your past experiences hold you back from an opportunity.

*raises both hands and feet*

Well, you’re not alone. So many of us suffer from what is called Rearview Mirror Syndrome (RMS).

RMS is where you make your decisions on your past, and not what you can achieve in the future.

For example, say if you’re a 20-something guy with who is having trouble committing to their partner because they’ve had relationship issue in the past. That person (not me, I swear), is suffering from RMS.

Lesson Two: The six things you should do every morning

In this section, we’ll quickly skim over the six things that you should include in your morning routine.

These six steps are the basis of the miracle morning and should help you start the day right.

The six steps mentioned in the book can be remembered by the acronym S.A.V.E.R.S

S- Silence: Take some time to meditate or practice some mindfulness. Even a few minutes of silence can settle your mind.

A- Affirmation: The self-talk we use is a massive factor that controls our actions. Negative self-talk is more than likely holding you back. By having a positive affirmation that you can read to yourself daily you’ll start to combat that negative talk.

V- Visualisation: Once you have created an affirmation about how great your life can be, start to visualize the process of completing it. What does it look like to you?

E- Exercise: This one is simple. Make sure you find a way to exercise every morning. Even if it is going for a walk or a quick 20-minute workout YouTube video. Something is better than nothing.

R- Reading: We can all learn something by reading the thoughts of somebody else. Use some time to read… perhaps a great book summary?

S- Scribing: Finally, take a few minutes to write or journal your thoughts. This time is great for self-reflection.

Step Three: The miracle morning will be easier if you turn the steps into habits

The best part about the miracle morning routine is that there is no strict time limit. You can adjust the system to fit into what suits you the best.

For example, perhaps you want to divide everything equally, or maybe you want to spend an hour at the gym and spend a few minutes on everything else. Hell, maybe you just want to do everything for a minute and be done in six minutes.

Whatever you do, something is better than nothing.

From there, you can look to turn your routine into a habit. Get yourself an accountability buddy (to keep you honest) and try to commit to completing the miracle morning for thirty days.

If you’re anything like most of the readers, that will be enough time for you to be sold on the process.

My Personal Takeaway

So my morning routine already includes a part of this. However, I love the framework that this book gives you.

I’ll be starting my own 30-day challenge with the miracle morning and seeing how it changes my day.

Book summaries are great, but I also really believe that you will not fully understand the book or the author without trying the real thing. Learn more about this subject by listening to the full book for free via Audible.

Put it into action

Start tomorrow by preparing tonight…

That means that you’ll have to try and make your miracle morning as easy as possible.

Lay your gym clothes out the night before so you’re ready to go first thing in the morning.

The easier you’ll make the process, the more likely it is you’ll stick to it.

You should consider buying this book if…

Honestly, if you don’t have a morning routine that works for you, then read the entire book.

Also, if you like the ideas in this summary and want to learn more, you can read the entire Miracle Morning.
