If you love listening to audiobooks you know there is nothing worse than wasting your monthly credit on a book that’s just not to your liking. Sometimes it is the subject, sometimes it is the narrator and sometimes it is just plain bad. What is the Audible Great Listen Guarantee?
The Great Listen Guarantee allows you to return or exchange books on Audible within 12 months of purchase. The great thing about this guarantee is that Audible allows active members to return a book they have not read, partially read or even completely read. That’s right, you can return a book that you have finished reading!
How many Audible books can you return? Is there a limit?
According to the site, there are no restrictions on active members other than the book must have been purchased in the last year. There is no actual number reported in terms of book returns or exchanges. Weird, I know.
However, in order to discourage any abuse of the return policy, Audible will discontinue any members ability to use this benefit if they suspect it is being overused. You will have to contact Customer Service directly to return a book once this occurs. So, I guess it is safe to say that Audible is monitoring the frequency and reasons for your returns to ensure that it is legit.
How to return a book on Audible
Firstly, this can only be done on the site (desktop or mobile) and not in the app.
- Go to the Audible website
- Once you have logged in, click on account details under your name.
- Then go to your Purchase History
- You’ll see a list of all the audiobooks you’ve purchased. Click the “Return Title” button next to the title you want to return.
- Select the reason for your return and confirm the return
Just a friendly reminder here, if you are unable to return a book for any reason, it will say “Not Eligible for Return”. You will have to contact Customer Service to find out why as Amazon says that “Only a certain number of titles can be returned using the online tool.”
It’s pretty simple really. If you are an avid reader, you will truly appreciate the Great Listen Guarantee. It’s not exactly an unlimited policy but if you don’t exploit the service, you will be able to successfully return the books you are unhappy with little hassle. Compared to other audiobook services, Audible’s return policy is quite liberal making it more appealing to audiobook subscribers.
